Well Julia, it all starts in the mitochondria. The Mitochondria (the powerhouse of the cell), is where all chemical changes take place. Some changes that happen are photosynthesis, cellular respiration, and fermentation
Active transport is low to high concentration and requires energy. Passive transport is high to low concentration and requires no energy.
Photosynthesis
Photosynthesis is active transport and is the intake of carbon dioxide, water, and light energy, and converts it into oxygen and glucose. Photosynthesis takes place in the chloroplasts
Cellular Respiration
glucose
Cellular Respiration
This is the process of converting chemical energy (glucose) into useable energy (ATP)
ATP
Fermentation
Lactic Acid Fermentation-C6 H12 O6 = ethanol + CO2 + 2 ATP
There are two types of Fermentation: Lactic acid fermentation, which occurs in the muscles, and alcohol fermentation, which occurs in yeast
Alcohol Fermentation-C6 H12 O6 = ethanol + CO2 + 2 ATP
Does that clear some things up Julia?
Yes, thanks so much Grace!
