- Submarine Warfare-On May 7, 1915 a German U-boat British owned luxray steamship the Lusitania crashed and killed 1,195 people including 128 Americans - Because of this catastrophe, relations between Germany and the US were strained-With the relations being strained this fueled anti German sentiment -This ended setting up a chain of events which led to the US entering World War 1

- Zimmerman Note On January 1917 Germany announced that it will continue unrestricted submarine warfare.-Newspapers were published which was the Zimmerman notes-The Newspaper said the if Germany went to war with the US, Germany would promise to help Mexico recover territory it had lost-The note to Mexico from the German Minister declared his intentions of keeping things neutral between US-This ended up with a call for new initiative with Mexico, Japan, Us, and Germany.-Real Facts-The note revealed a plan to renew unrestricted submarine warfare and to form an alliance with Mexico and Japan if the United States declared war on Germany
