- Define the Situation

- Consider the Outcomes
- Bob and Rob were in their spaceship orbiting around planet Terra Prime, but now that they've run out of fuel and fell into orbit they're slowly being sucked into a black hole that's going to obliterate them both.
- Identify Values
- Because the black hole's pull is getting stronger by the second, Bob and Rob only have a limited time to act. They talk quickly about their options. Firstly, they could just stay and accept it, after all nobody actually knows what's on the other side of a black hole. On the other hand, that plan could lead them both to early graves, so they could eject from the spaceship instead in their spacesuits and hope for the best.
- Decide and Act
- Although their second option seems more appealing, they still have to consider all outcomes, after all it turns out there's only one spacesuit on board their ship. If they went with their first option, both of their futures would be unknown; completely out of their hands. However, if they decided to eject, it was a sad fact that only one would survive, or at least have a chance of survival.
- Evaluate/Reflect
- Now, although they had been friends for many years, Bob and Rob were very different people. Bob, upset at the idea of only letting one of them live, thought that they should go with plan A, that way they go down together. Rob was not as upset, he was angry. Rob thought that they should go with plan B since it meant one of them would have a chance to live, and out of them, it would be him.
- The two finally made a decision that they would go with plan B after some arguement, because after talking they did both decide having at least one them live is still one more than plan A. They readied the spacesuit and made the final choice of who would go in it.
- Bob thought, as he floated through space, about whether or not they made the right decision. Rob, although he mainly valued his own safety over others, told Bob that by going with plan B, they were 'meeting in the middle' and even if their paths were different, both of their fates were unknown; Bob went into the suit. Next time, if there was a next time for Bob, he would have stayed with his friend Rob no matter what.
