Iraq split into 3 parts because sunni and shitte muslims didnt want to live together since their way of being muslim was different. They split into 3 parts called Kurdish Mosul, Sunni baghdad, and the Shia Basra. Shia Basra was made up of mostly Shitte muslims, the kurdish mosul was mostly made up of Kurds, and sunni baghdad was mostly made up of sunni muslims.
