A Bill to Educate
Storyboard Text
- Radha is an orphaned student in the eighth grade at Delhi School. She had been granted a scholarship.
- OK MAM
- Hi Radha, let's go home
- Next Day. When Radha comes to school she sees an angry-looking principal waiting for her.
- Please NO!! I did not do anything. I am innocent.
- YOU ARE KICKED OUT OF THIS SCHOOL AND NEVER SHOW ME YOUR FACE!!!
- Radha returned home hopeless of going to school. On returning home the teacher saw how upset Radha was and asked why she was upset.
- I-I got kic-cked out from s-s-chool because.........
- Even though, I can't convince the principal to let you in we can still file a PIL. Remember I taught you what PIL was.
- She comes from a low caste and students dislike her because she gets good marks. One of her teachers, however, lets her live in her house and helps her in her studies whenever she is free.
- That day itself they filed a PIL in the court regarding the mistreatment happening with Radha in her school.
- She is accused of mistreating and bullying her classmates and is kicked out of the school.
- TWO DAYS LATER
- The decision in the end is that Radha will go to school as everyone has the right to education.
- Radha told her teacher everything. The teacher could not request the principal to keep her back in school but could file a PIL (Public Intrest Litigation) and give Radha the right to education.
- Moral
- EDUCATION IS EVERYONES RIGHT IRRESPECTIVE OF THE PERSON'S CASTE, RELIGION, GENDER. ANYONE CAN BE EDUCATED WHETHER THEY ARE SMALL CHILDREN OR EVEN ADULTS. EDUCATION HAS NO RESTRICTIONS.
- As a result of filing a PIL in the court, the court lawyers had told Radha and the teacher that their case will be discussed in the court after two days or could even be postponed. Radha thought that her case will never be discussed in court but her teacher had assured her that it will be.
- Radha and her teacher with the principal were called to the court. The judge had heard both their sides and decided that Radha should get the education she needs. As a punishment, the principal had to pay Radha's school fees until she turned 18.
