  • The first category of My Plate is Fruits. Fruits are low is fat, calories, and sodium, fruits give you vitamin C, and have potassiumwhich help maintain healthy blood pressure
  • Strawberries, bananas, watermelon, grapes are some examples of fruits
  • Second category of My Plate is vegetables. Vegetables provides health benefits and help reduce the risk of some chronic diseases. Theyprovide nutients for health and maintenanceof your body
  • Peas, carrots, broccoli, Garlic, spinach are examples of vegetables
  • Wheat, rice, cornmeal, barley, popcorn, and pasta are examples of grain
  • The 3rd category of My Plate is Grain. Grain is naturally high in fiber which gives you more of a full and satisfied feeling
  • The 4th category of My Plate is Protein. Protein is the building blocks of life, they help growth and development
  • Ground meat, steak, pork chops, ham, and turkey are examples of protein
  • cheese, milk, yogurt, ice cream and butter are examples of dairy 
  • The 5th category of My Plate is dairy. Dairy helps build and maintain strong bones.
