- Ah! Tis' I, Andrew Jackson, at a young age! What a delight it is to have such a childhood as I do right now--even if we are poor in South Carolina, and this is the only schooling I have, it's great!--hold on, are those Redcoats outside?

- Andrew Jackson was born in South Carolina. In a rural area, he did not have the opportunity for much "formal education", and his regular schooling was interrupted by the British invasion of South Carolina. He was captured in a year.

- In 1781, Andrew Jackson was captured by the Royal Army. An officer demanded Jackson shine his boots--Jackson was adamant in his refusal, and was smacked across the face with a sabre. Later on, due to the invasion of the Carolinas, his mother and two brothers would perish. Jackson would never forgive the British for this grievance.
