- There were many different Native American tribes. They ruled the land.
- In 1492, Columbus discovered the Americas.
- Columbus's discovery changed the world. Plants, animals and disease were shipped across the ocean.
- Spain sent soldiers to take the land from the Native Americans.
- In 1565 Spain created a colony named St. Augustine. It was in what we now call Florida.
