- Filled with glee, Romeo walks down the road, only to find Mercrutio and Tybalt in the midst of a fight...
- "Gentle Mercrutio, put thy rapier up." (lll, i, 75)
- "I am hurt... I am sped... help me into some house, Benvolio" (lll, i, 82 - 97)
- "O Romeo, Romeo, brave Mercrutio is dead! . . . Here comes the furious Tybalt back again" (lll, i, 108 - 113)
- "Alive in triumph, and Mercrutio's slain? . . . Mercrutio's soul is but a little way above our heads . . . Either thou or I, or both, must go with him" (lll, i, 114 - 121).
