The beginning is about how the coach wanted to break the rule that no colored man should be able to play baseball. So he called in Jackie Robinson, Jackie Robinson was tested for 3 hours to see if he could handle all the rude name-calling and threats that would be shouted at him in games and outside games. He could and know Jackie Robinson was the first colored man to play major league baseball.
In the middle of the story, Jackie meets PeeWee , PeeWee also wanted to break this racist rule so when all the other teammates wanted him to sign the petition that they would not play baseball with a colored man PeeWee said no. Pee Wee was very impressed by how much name-calling and threats Jackie could take, he felt bad for Jackie. Soonly after Jackie and PeeWee became not just close teammates but best friends.
The end of the story is about the present time, if Jackie had not exepted that offer to play major league baseball or had yelled back at the people name-calling him there would be no colored major league baseball players. Something to learn from this story is that sometimes it is better to say nothing than to say something back to keep your pride.
