- THE BRITISH ARE TAXING US? WE HAVE TO DO SOMETHING!
- LETS STORM THE BRITISH SHIPS!
- THIS WILL SHOW THEM NOT TO TAX US!
- The Colonists were very angry when they found out that they were now being taxed by the British.
- They decided that they needed to do something about it, and they disguised themselves as Native Americans so they wouldn't be caught.
- They stormed the ships that were arriving from Britain that held the crates of tea.
- NO TAXATION WITHOUT REPRESENTATION!
- They started throwing the crates of tea into the water.
- In total, they dumped 342 crates of tea into the water. It was nearly $1,000,000 dollars worth.
- The Colonists did this because they didn't feel that it was right for them to be taxed by the British Parliament instead of the American Representatives. Their saying was "NO TAXATION WITHOUT REPRESENTATION."
