- Exposition: Terry, His Mom, His Dad & Mr. Carlson Terry is 13. He knows that something is wrong with his father and wants to know what wrong with his father
- Rising Action: Terry's Father had a flashback about war at the hardware store. And Terry was embarrasses
- Climax: Terry's father tells Terry the story about the war and how he was the only survivor in the unit he was in. Terry now begins to understand.
- Falling Action: Terry is beginning to understand his father.
- Resolution: Terry is going to try to understand and not be embarrassed anymore.
- Conflict/Theme: Terry wants to understand his father but his dad doesn't want to talk. People should try to understand problems of others.
