- Braddock was a British officer and commander-in-chief for the 13 colonies. This was during the actions at the start of the French and Indian War.
- The French and Indians arrived too late to set an ambush. They ran into the British guard and saw the enemy in the trees. Colonel Thomas Gage ordered his men to fire and succeeded in killing Captain Beaujeu.
- Unconcerned by the death of Beaujeu, the Indian warriors took positions for the start to attack. They fought on an Indian hunting ground with lots of trees.
- Washington tried to warn Braddock that the French and the Indians fought differently, especially in the open field. Braddock generally ignored Washington's advice.
- Washington emerges as a leader. He does this by taking control and maintaining some order.
- Finally after 3 hours of intense fighting, Braddock was shot in the lung by Thomas Fauset. He fell off his horse, badly wounded, and got carried back to safety by some of his men. He died 3 days later from his gun shot wound.
