on January 3, 2000, Gina was born and diagnosed with Smith-Lemli-Opitz Syndrome. Doctors told her mother that Gina would most likely never live a normal life....
After enduring multiple major surgeries, including open heart surgery, Gina overcame the adversity and finally returned home with her family
Gina would be placed in a specialized school according to her needs and would eventually become an integral part of the school community as she grew up, partaking in numerous school programs 
Gina and her mom have proven to be an inspiration to everyone in the fight for the rights and inclusion of people with disabilities 
As a young adult, Gina is active in her community and school, joining the choir, girl scouts,  and anti-bullying peer buddy program
How can I help parents share their voice ?
1.  Give parents a voice in the classroom assignments and activities on occasion
2.  Give parents the opportunity to speak at family or schools events and voice their opinions 
4. Speak with them individually on a routine basis and provide them with resources they can use for further assistance with their children 
3. Create different family events based on the wishes of my parents and the needs of my students
