My Digital Narrative
Storyboard Text
- This is me as a young kid. I lived on a main street, but me and my brothers had a ton of fun playing in our front yard. These were our lives.
- We loved playing sports together and riding bikes. Our mom would have to beg us to come inside most of the time.
- When our mom got us to stop playing outside, we did things like get ice cream and relax with one another.
- ICE CREAM
- It stayed like this for years. Until...
- My mom got me my first smart phone... then everything changed.
- Soon after I got my first iPhone, everyone at school followed. Then, we were introduced to Instagram, Snapchat, Facebook, and more.
- It was not long before our in-person communication with each other suffered. We spent our days with our heads buried in our phones, talking to people who weren't with us and ignoring the people who were.
- I was so busy texting, checking Facebook, and sending snapchats that my mom would yell at me to pay attention to what she was saying. I thought this was normal behavior on my part, but over the years I began to understand where my mom was coming from.
- GET OFF YOUR PHONE!!!
- I realized my behavior needed to change. Over the years, I adjusted my digital use and tried to limit it as much as I could by reading and drawing instead of using my phone, TV, or laptop. I still have a lot of improvement to make, but I'm headed in the right direction.
- OFF
- Now I spend a lot of time outdoors and away from the digital world. I am still very much involved and addicted to my digital life, but I always try to find time to disconnect and relax. It certainly makes my mom happy!
