- In the story "Harrison Bergeron",  Vonnegut makes a great point about everyone being equal. In this day and age, we have put so much weight on equality and the idea that every single person should have an equal opportunity for everything. However, God made everyone different and some people have gifts in certain areas, and if we were all exactly the same this story shows how bad that would be. Competition and individualism make us who we are as humans and if we throw this away, there is no way a society will change and develop into a nation that is beneficial for humanity.
