- EXPOSITION
- In the beginning the main characters are Jonas, lily, mother, father, and Gabriel.#160;Jonas#160;is excited for the Ceremony of Twelve. In#160;this#160;Community lives by being perfect and having everything the same. Jonas's father brings home Gabriel, both Jonas and Gabriel have light eyes while most people have dark.
- conflict
- During the ceremony the Chief Elder was calling people up for their assign however The chief Elder skips over Jonas and continues to the other people. However since the Chief Elders saw the audience being uncomfortable they said that Jonas has a very special position, Jonas position was to be the Receiver of Memory
- The rising acting starts when Jonas was assign to be the receiver of Memory. The giver was starting to transmit memories to Jonas, Jonas first pain was sunburn during the transmit of memory. Jonas then slowly started seeing different kinds of colors such as green, yellow, and red.
- rising action
- The climax is when Jonas was looking through a screen where he saw his father and a baby waiting to be release however Jonas father injected the newborn with a liquid and Jonas felt the sensation of the soldiers life left his eyes, Jonas then realized his father killed the baby, Jonas finds the truth of release.

- Jonas decides to leave the dwelling at night and broke many rules, Jonas took gabriel with him because his father told Jonas that Gabriel will be released, Jonas also hopes they can escape to Elsewhere.
- Resolution
- In the end, Jonas and Gabriel were experiencing starvation, cold, and fear. Jonas then sled down a steep hill with Gabriel, Jonas saw lights, colors, and music.
