- Below you is Sam Gribley, a twelve-year-old boy who just ran away from home. Sam has to find out how to survive in the wilderness by himself. "Dang it," Sam grumbles to himself after coming up empty again fishing. "Why can't I catch just one fish." Sam gives up on fishing and tries to make camp. Sam has trouble going to sleep, because he's sleeping on the rocky floor. The next day Sam tries again to fish except he goes to a different spot. Five minutes after he casts, he feels a bight on the rod, Sam reels in and sees a smallmouth bass. "Maybe this won't be so bad after all," Sam says proud of himself.

- A few months later Sam finds a lone falcon. He instantly knows that there's something special about her. Sam names her Frightful and begins to teach her different signals. Frightful gives Sam something to do and care about instead of just work. Sam also talks to her about different things. "I need to take a bath today; do you want to take one too?" Sam asks Frightful. She instantly backs away, with fear in her eyes. Sam laughs and takes off to fish. While walking Sam is so happy to have someone to talk to that he smiles the whole way there.

- While Sam is minding his business he hears a twig snap. "Is someone there?" Sam shouts. "There you are Sam," Sam's dad says.Dad, Mom, Ben, what're you guys doing here, and why are you here?" Sam asks, still shocked about seeing them. "To answer your first question, we read about you living here in the news and wanted to see for ourselves. And to answer your second question, we were planning to build a house here," Mom says. "What do you say, bud," says Sam's dad. "I think that would be great, thank you so much for everything." Sam says and hugs mom and dad, grinning from ear to ear.THE ENDBy Samuel Ricksecker
