- freedom riders was a group of African american civil rights activist that would ride into southern segregated sates. their main objective was to challenge segregation laws.
- The election of 1860 played a big part in the civil war when abraham Lincoln was elected president. This was a problem for the southerers and pro slavery because abraham lincoln was opposed the expansion of slavery which would soon lead to a war becuase the southerners economy would crash if they lost their slaves and slavery itself would be abolished.
