- Della and Jim live in a flat home and live very poor. It is Christmas and Della wants to bye her her husband Jim a gift

- But she only had 1 dollar and 87 cents she couldn't buy Jim anything . She doesn't have enough.

- Della goes to the hairdresser and cuts her hair and sells it. She gets 20 dollars for it she is happy.
- Resolution
- They exchange gifts and Jim gives her a nice seat of combs. Della gives him a watch chain.
- Della and Jim put there gifts away . Until they can use them .
- At the end they learned a lesson about love is all that matters .
