- Born on September 29, 1955 Graduated from St. Paul Academy Became a physical education teacher, coach, and wilderness instructor but resigned
- Traveled to the North Pole with five other teammates becoming the first women to reach the North Pole by sled and on foot. She also ski across Greenland and the South Pole
- Bancroft is in recognition of her achievements and was inducted into the National Women's Hall of Fame in 1995, receiving several additional awards and honors.
