  • Doolittle was given the job at Army Airforces headquarters to plan and lead the upcoming raid. That is why the bombing is called the Doolittle raid.
  • General Doolitle, you will be planning and leading the raid.
  • Okay, Sir
  • After that we will make our way to China to land there
  • We are going to drop the bombs on Tokyo, Yokohama, Yokosuka, Nagoya, Kobe, and Osaka.

  • The Japanese boat radioded to Japan that there was going to be an attack. The B-25 bombers were 200 miles farther away from Japan than expected and they didn't know if they would have enough fuel to get to China and land.
  • That aircraft carrier looks suspicious. Are those bombers?
  • What is that?
  • Oh, it just looks like a fisherman boat
  • All of the bombers successfully took off from the USS Hornet and six hours later they reached Japan.
