- Brazil has firstly been home to us (Indigenous people)
- Europeans like us have been arriving to Brazil since the 16th Century
- We settle as a colony of the Portuguese Empire
- The main export for the Brazil was a red coloured wood named Brazil wood. This is where Brazil got it's name
- Brazil's other main crop was sugarcane, there were a large plantations called engenhos along the Northeast coast.
- They used slaves on large plantations to make sugar to export to Europe
- No!
- Dutch invaded Brazil trying to steal their crops. It didn't last long.

- In 1822 Brazil declared it's independence from Portugal and became it's own empire.
