- Today we will be discussing the rock cycle.
- There are three types of rocks.
- IngenuesSedimentary Metamorphic
- Sedimentary rocks are made by the erosion of the other types of rocks.
- There are a multitude of ways a rock can transform
- Fun fact about rocks. The word "igneous" is Latin for word "ignis" which means "of fire.
- Magma solidifies and is what creates igneous rocks. Erosion will turn it into sediment then through lithification it becomes a sedimentary rock
- Metamorphic rocks are formed by metamorphism. This is a process where the rocks under go a change by heat and form metamorphic rocks.
- The word metamorphic literally means "changed form".
- Remember never take a rock for granite.
