The wise men come to King Herod asking, "Where is the child who has been born king of the Jews? We observed the star and have come to pay him homage." King Herod meet with the chief of priests and scribes, who informed Herod the prophecy. Herod tells the wise men to find the location of the new born king so that too may pay homage.
The wise men finally find the new born king with Mary his mother, they knelt down and paid him homage. They offered him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.
The wise men were warned in a dream not to return to Herod, so after paying homage to the new born king they set out for their own country by a different road than they had come in by.
