  • In Martin Luther King Jr.'s famous speech he uses ethos and mentions the famous song, "Let freedom ring" . He mentions that the song will have a new meaning, freedom for all no matter what color. He fights for justice and to stop segregation an uses ethos as a way to help him.
  • ETHOS
  • "My country, 'tis of thee, sweet land of liberty, of thee I sing. Land where my fathers died, land of the pilgrim's pride, from every mountainside, let freedom ring."
  • Along with Ethos, Martin Luther King Jr also uses Pathos . In his speech the reader or listener feels guilt because of what he says, that a negro is on an island of poverty. Martin Luther King using pathos moved lots of people to support his cause.
  • PATHOS
  • The Negro lives on a lonely island of poverty in the midst of a vast ocean of material prosperity.
  • In Martin Luther King's speech he not only uses pathos and ethos but also logos. In the speech he mentions that millions of slaves had been saved from slavery. In the speech he rarely uses logos but it still helped the speech reach its goal, to end segregation.
  • LOGOS
  • This momentous decree came as a great beacon light of hope to millions of Negro slaves who had been seared in the flames of withering injustice.
