- The Americans suffered their biggest lost in the battle of long island being forced to retreat out of New York. After the Americans ambushed the British around Christmas and won the battle of Trenton with that surprise attack making the British lose a big amount of men. In the battle of Princeton George Washington flanked the British instead of retreating and won. In the battle of Brandywine Washington was trying to protect Philadelphia from being captured but failed. And the battle of Saratoga was the turning point and we allied with France and won.
