- Liesel's mother is taking Liesel and her brother to the family they are being adopted by. On the way there Liesels brother dies on the train.
- Liesels brother was buried and she saw a book and picked it up.
- Liesel and her new father Hans are reading the book that she took from her brothers gravesite together.
- Liesel went into the mayors library through the window and is stealing a book to read.
- Max is helping Liesel to read while he is in the basement.Also she is telling him about how it is outside.
- Himmel street is being bombed by an enemy country during war. This was a stealth bombing because the planes came in the middle of the night and the horns didn't go off.
