  • The parents bought a happylife home so that their family wouldn't have to do anything. The children became so addicted that they wanted to use the nursery all the time and let technology rule their lives so they set the nursery to the Veldt all the time and then they killed their parents so that they could always have what they wanted.
  • "The Veldt" By Ray Bradbury
  • George I want you to look at the nursery, something has been different lately.
  • The story was about two kids who let technology rule their lives and became addicted to it. When their parents hindered them from using the nursery they revolted and ended up killing their parents in order to keep their house on.
  • Yeah! It sure is hot out here, and look at those lions. I wonder why the children have it set on the Veldt.
  • Do you see what I mean?
  • “Lydia, it’s off, and it stays off. And the whole house dies as of here and now. The more I see of the mess we’ve put ourselves in, the more it sickens me. We’ve been contemplating our mechanical, electronic navels for too long. My goodness, how we need a breath of honest air!”
  • The nursery has me worried, I think I'll call the psychologist.
  • Good idea, the children have been acting strange lately.
  • The kids had become addicted to technology and their parents wanted to take it away from them so they set it to the Veldt so that they could get rid of their parents.
  • Thanks for coming, I want you to look at the nursery, Lydia and I want your opinion on it.
  • Sounds good.
  • “Matter of fact, we’re thinking of turning the whole house off for about a month. Live sort of a carefree one-for-all existence.”
  • I knew this was serious! Thanks for coming over to help.
  • Oh my, this is very bad. You need to turn off the house for good!
  • In my evaluation, setting develops the theme the most. The happylife home tells the reader that it does everything for the Hadleys. The children have gotten so used to getting everything they want that when they are told no they revolt. Because of this they end up resenting and killing their parents.
