  • The exposition of Catching Fire is when Peeta and Katniss return from the games as victors. They expected everything to be very peaceful when they returned but rather while Katniss was at the Mayor's daughter house, she hears that there has been an uprising in one of the districts. President Snow visited her house without any notice and claims that Katniss has started the uprising because of the berry incident. However, she claimed that she was going to eat the berries out of love. Not only did President Snow not believe her, but he also said that she had to convince the rest of the district that Peeta and her were in love.
  • Climax
  • One of the main conflicts of the story is the interactions between Katniss and President Snow because he threatened to kill Katniss and all the people she cares for. She struggles many times to protect her loved ones from the wrath of the Capitol and President Snow.
  • Falling Action
  • The rising action occurs when Katniss finds out she will be accompanied back into the arena by Peeta to start training again.
  • Resolution
  • The climax of the story happens when Johanna and Katniss take the coil down to the lake and Katniss jams the wire into the force field and it blows up.
  • The falling action of the book is when Katniss is picked up from the arena by the hovercraft after the force field surrounding the arena was destroyed. She is greeted by Plutarch, who is the head game maker.
