  • The MURDER OF DUNCAN!!!...if it were simply a matter of killing the king and then moving on without consequences, it wouldn't be a big issue.
  • Murdering Duncan in my own home would be a serious violation of hospitality! I'm supposed to protect the king, not murder him! Plus, he is a pretty good king and heaven is bound to frown upon murdering such a decent fellow.
  • It's probably not a good idea to commit murder. I have no justifiable cause to kill the king. I can admit that I am merely ambitious.
  • (Lady Macbeth gives Macbeth a good tongue-lashing, questions his manhood, and says that unlike him, she knows how to keep her word, and lays out the plan to get Duncan's guards drunk and frame them for the murder.)
  • If you can't keep your vow, then you're not a man!
  • I will show my strength as a man by killing Duncan if that's what she wants!
