Whats up dudes! My names Saad the Skater, and today im here to break some skating records! Lets go to the skatepark and do it!
But first, let me try and break the record for the farthest distance horizontally jumping over a fence!
WOO-HOOO!
I know that the fence is 3 feet, and my fitness watch said I had a declination at an angle of 50 degrees, but I don't know the feet. Meaning we can do cos (50°) = 3/x, which becomes 3/cos(50°) which equals 4.66 feet, meaning that the horizontal distacnce I traveled was only 4.66 feet. That means I didn't break the record.
AW MAN!
3 feet
50°
Woah, that trick was insane, but now we have to see if we broke the record, which is 5 feet.
WOOOO-HOOOO!!
8 feet
55°
Now I am going to try and break the record for tallest ramp skated down! However, I am not sure if this ramp is big enough, and it is too tall for me to measure, so I have to use math. (The current record is 10 feet)
Its a bummer that we werent able to get that last trick, but we still have a few more to go!
So I was only able to measure two things, the angle of elevation from the bottom which is 55°, as well as the length of the base on the bottom, which is 8 feet. However, I can find the height with just these two things. I can do tan (55°) = x/8 which would then equal 8 * tan (55°), which equals 11.43 feet. Meaning that I broke the record! WOO-HOO!
(note: ramp not visualized to scale)
All I need to do is find the inverse tangent of this triangle, which would be: tan^-1 (3/6) which equals 26.56°! And since the current records is 30° I broke the record!
However, there is a problem, I don't now the angle, but I can use math for that! I was able to measure the height of the ramp as 6 feet, and the length of the bottom base is 3 feet.
Alright guys, this is going to be the last trick of the day, and in this trick, I am going to ride down the steepest ramp in the world.
3 feet
YIPPIE!!
6 feet
x°
That was a great skate sesh! I was able to break 2/3 records I tried today, and I'm pretty proud of that! Now I gotta go, see ya later!
