- Hermia although Lysander may be your love he does not have your father approval unlike Demetrius who does. Therefore by law Demetrius is more worthy. if you refuse to marry Demetrius Hermia you must either suffer death or have no further contact with men
- Relent, dear Hermia. Lysander, yield your misguided claim in respect for my rightful authority.
- Theseus, I stand before you infuriated with my daughter Hermia. She defies my wishes, refusing to marry the respectable Demetrius. Instead, she's been misled by Lysander, who is unworthy of her.

- Beloved Lysander, I give you my word that I will meet you there tomorrow.

- I’m just as eager for our wedding! The thought of professing our love together fills me with joy. Let’s make our dream a reality!
- My dear Hermia, we must run away from Athens and go to my aunt's house, which is 20 miles from here, so that we can get married. If you love me, please slip out of your father's house tomorrow night and meet me in the woods, three miles outside of town.
