- Of course sweetie! I'm glad you understand!!
- Thank you Mom! I now understand what the Sacraments are and why we need them!!
- In the beginning, God created Adam and Eve and told them not to eat the fruit on the trees in the middle of the garden.
- They did not listen to God and they decided to eat the fruit anyway.
- This broke the relationship between God and humans.
- Fast forward to many years later, God sent his only son Jesus. Later, Jesus died on the cross for us and saved us from our sins.
- Jesus rose from the dead and repaired the relationship between God and humanity.
- This is how we get into the topic of Sacraments!! Are you ready?!
- I think so!
- First, you need to know that there are 3 aspects of a sacrament. The first one is a visible, effective signal.
- Meaning that the Sacraments make God's presence real towards us!
- Ok!
- Well, it basically means that we are still apart of Christ's life and it also shows us who He was.
- The second important aspect is that the Sacraments were established by Christ and given to the Church.
- What exactly does that have to do with everything?
- Lastly, it is important to remeber that the Sacraments help us to be apart of God's life and have a relationship with Christ
- I understand that!!
- Since they give us a relationship with Christ, we are also apart of the Christian family.
- Good question! The sacraments give us a relationship with Christ, like the relationship you have with me.
- Now I understand what a Sacrament is, but why do people need them?
- The Sacraments give us this physical interaction with God.
- Well as humans we need to experience physical interaction with others to have a relationship.
- But how do these Sacraments help deepen our relationship with God?
