Walter Mitty is an older man prone to daydreams that interrupt his life. In these dreams, he is someone famous, important or brave. In this one, he drives a seaplane through a raging storm.

Walter's wife, the practical one, is usually there to pull him out of his daydreams. Walter was driving too fast as a result of his dream and his wife complained, bringing him back to earth. He has a very boring life, which is why he escapes through his vivid imagination.

Drifting back into his dream, he is a famous doctor who is the only one who can save a millionaire patient. However, at the last moment an important medical device breaks down and no one knows how to fix it. Walter temporarily fixes it with just a fountain pen.
Give me a fountain pen!
He is shocked out of his daydream by an angry car attendant who tells him that he is going the wrong way. Walter feels belittled by the cocky attendant. He goes looking for a store, and drifts back into imagination...

In court being accused of murder, Walter admits that the gun that was found is his. When his attorney tries to prove him innocent, he states that he could have shot him with his left hand! As pandemonium breaks out in the court, Walter keeps his cool.
I could have easily done it with my left hand.
Objection! The defendant could not have fired a shot! His arm was in a sling!
Something stirs deep in his mind and he remembers what he was shopping for. Leaving his dream behind, he goes to shop for puppy biscuit. After buying that he sits down and begins to imagine once again...
