- First, you need to examine your conscience. This is when we reflect on how we have hurt our relationship with God.

- You also must be truly sorry for your sins, not out of fear, or consequence but for destroying your relationship with God.

- Lastly be honest to the priest, so you can receive forgiveness. Remember to also do the penance given to you.
