In this scene King Duncan is asking if the Thane of Cawdor, who was atraitor has been executed yet. His eldest son Malcom responds saying he had been killed, but before that he had apologized.

In this scene King Duncan is praising Macbeth and thanking him for all that he has done. He also has already awarded Macbeth with the title Thane of Cawdor. Macbeth responds saying that he is happy to be able to fight for the king and his people.

In this scene King Duncan says that he is going to give the throne to his eldest son Malcom. Macbeth says to the side that this gets in the way of him becoming king and he may have to do something about it.
