I can't focus but I need this grade; let me ask Kara for help.
Should I study hard and hope for the best, take the medicine, or should I tell a trusted adult about the medicine?
How do you stay focused?
Easy, I take my ADHD medicine. Here, have some!

I could also take the medicine, which would guarantee focus, right..? My desire for a good grade and Kara's words are making me want to take the medicine.
Kara telling me to take this medicine was really irresponsible of her. Maybe I should tell someone? According to Drug Free NJ, 1/4 of teens abuse a prescription drug.
The cons are me still not being able to focus, and Kara might think that I don't trust her.
The pros would be me getting a good grade, and me staying free of any substance I shouldn't be having.
Maybe I should try my best to focus so that way I can possibly get a good grade.
The Pros would involve Kara thinking I'm cool, and me being able to focus better.
A con would be me taking a substance that I'm not supposed to have. According to UCLA Health, I could end up with a stomach ache or dizziness.
The main pro is that this could stop Kara from offering her medicine to other people. I also don't want her to be part of the 25% of teens who abuse prescriptions.
The main con is that Kara couldn't get mad at me and stop talking to me.

If I need help deciding what to do, I can reach out to Findtreatment.gov, a national source that helps with teens and drugs. I can reach out to the Mental Health Commissions of Lyons Township, or talk to a counselor.
I'm currently focusing really hard to study and I'm emailing my counselor to discuss the situation with Kara. According to the NDA, 82% of 10th graders report substance abuse when they see it. I want to be part of that percentage. I think I made the healthiest decision because I'm jeopardizing my grades, not my health, and I'm getting Kara some help.
