- July 1st- 18th of November 1916 on the upper reaches off the Somme a river in France Is wheee the battle took place
- The Battle started on 1 July 1916 lasting a week till the 8th of July and the brittish suffered a large amount of casualties
- A bombardment had started and the first wave of soilders had 90,000 walking towards the German trenches
- They used planes to spy on Germans and to get information
- The tank was used the first time on the battle field in the battle of Somme
- There were 19,240 killed on the first day
