Today's lesson is important 'cause it will help you to develop your intellectual abilities like problem-solving skills and analyzation.
Good Morning Class!
Let's start are lesson in tangent line theorem. Who wants to read the definition of it on your book?
Please get your book and open it on page 100.
Good morning Ms. Diaz
Ma'am!
Ma'am!
Good morning Ms. Diaz
Thank you Ms. Waldorf... This is the 1st example... Line MN is tangent to ⊙L at M. If LM=6 & MN=8, how far is point N from center L?
Ms. Waldorf
Since line MN is tangent to the circle at M, line LM & line MN are perpendicular to each other. Hence Δ LMN is a right triangle. We can apply the Pythagorean Theorem.
If a line is tangent to a circle, then it is perpendicular to the radius drawn to the point of tangency.
Does anyone knows what is Pythagorean Theorem?
Mr. Donaldson
Pythagorean Theorem states that the hypotenuse is equal to the 2 sides.

Now let's try to solve this problem.
All we have to do is to use the formula of the Pythagorean Theorem. Are final answer would be 10.
Thank you Mr. Donaldson.
Since AC^2 = AB^2 + CB^2, by the converse of the Pythagorean theorem, ΔABC is a right triangle with AB ⊥ CB...
QUIET!!!
By the converse of the tangent line theorem. Line CB must be tangent to ⊙E.
