Texte du Storyboard

  • These principles of Classical Liberalism actually helped these women in achieving their goals. All their hard work and protests ended up paying off. In 1922, all provinces in Canada, except Quebec, gave women the right to vote. And, new technology, like the telephone, created actual jobs that women could do, such as telephone operators.
  • So initially, Classical Liberalism did have a negative effect on women in society. But, these negative effects were able to push them towards fighting for a change.
  • This push allowed these women to use the principles of Classical Liberalism, such as Rule of Law and Self Interest, to their own advantage. They were able to use these principles to establish the rights they were fighting for. So while there were some negative effects of Classical Liberalism on women in society, there were also positive ones, as these women would not have been able to fight for these rights without it.
