- Teacher, I have some difficulties with understanding your math lesson and I was just wondering if you could help me.
- The student is having difficulties with understanding math and decides to ask the teacher for help. This demonstrates self-advocacy because the student is choosing what's best for him and finding ways that will make him successful. He spoke up for himself in terms of asking for help so he can succeed.

- Hey Teach! I have difficulties sitting at the back of the classroom as I easily get distracted. Is it possible for me to sit at the front instead.
- A student discovers that he easily gets distracted from sitting at the back of the classroom. He decides to approach the teacher and ask for a seating arrangement and the teacher agrees. This demonstrates self-advocacy because the student went out of his way to ask for a seating-change so that he can be successful and learn better.

- Hey! would you like to drink with us?
- Yea, come on. It will be so much fun!
- NO. I don't drink, sorry.
- A group of friends decided to hangout at a party. Some friends decided to peer pressure the other friend into drinking but he denies. This demonstrates self-advocacy because he made the choice that was best for him by refusing to drink. He clearly stated his choice, made boundaries and stood up for himself when others pressured him.
