  • A student discovers that he easily gets distracted from sitting at the back of the classroom. He decides to approach the teacher and ask for a seating arrangement and the teacher agrees. This demonstrates self-advocacy because the student went out of his way to ask for a seating-change so that he can be successful and learn better.

  • A group of friends decided to hangout at a party. Some friends decided to peer pressure the other friend into drinking but he denies. This demonstrates self-advocacy because he made the choice that was best for him by refusing to drink. He clearly stated his choice, made boundaries and stood up for himself when others pressured him.
