The people prayed to the Goddes Aruru to make a man who could overpower Gilgamesh. She made Enkido which had the apperance of a hairy man with legs like a bull.
Enkidu's Final Showdown
Gilgsmesh sent a courtasen from his kindom urk and Enkidu fell in love with her and moved to Gilgameshs kingdom, where they became quick friends.
Gilgamesh and The Cure-all
Enkidu had a nightmare where an eagle snatched him up and threw him into the underworld. Gilgamesh consolated Shamash the sun god. He said to go and fight Khumbaba the strong, king of cedar mountain.
They then went to battle him. However he did not answer. Then Ishtar appeared and tried to seduce Gilgamesh, but she was unsuccessful. Enraged she unleashed the bull of heaven upon his kingdom, and fought him and Enkidu. She was then insulted by Enkidu and a curse was placed on him that killed him in 12 days.
Gilgamesh realizing his own mortality after his death set out to find, Uta-Napishtim who was conferred everlasting life by Enlil. Eventually he found him, and he set him to look for a thorny plant across the waters of death. Soon he had gotten the plant, as he set it down for a moment a snake ate it and became immortal, and he felt terrible over how much time he had wasted.
