  • Glisser: 1
  • Well I do know that since it's summer for us, it's winter for him; but how does that happen?
  • It, sure is; but hopefully my cousin isn't too cold though.
  • This is our Earth. And as you can see, it's tilted on an axis. Which is why we have different climates.
  • Glisser: 2
  • Earth's orbit around the sun is the main cause of the seasons. The sun's rays hit primarily one hemisphere at a time causing the switch between seasons.

  • But the Earth isn't the only thing changing because of its orbit around something else. The moon does that too.
  • Each season lasts about 3 months, and there being 4 seasons is the reason we have 12 months in a solar (based on the sun) year.

  • The moon orbits around the Earth counterclockwise. As it does the shadow cast by the sun gives it the illusion of it disappearing.
  • We see the Moon wax (or "grow") where the right side is visible; and then we see it wane (or "shrink) where the right side is visible. Charts like this one show how the moon really is: which is a light side facing the sun and a dark side facing us.

  • Wow, the sunset is beautiful!
  • Well Kiara, it's because of the fact our Earth revolves around the sun.
