- I'm back with your results and the test came back positive for tuberculosis. I will prescribe a combination of antitubercular drugs that you will need to take for 9 months consistently. I'm prescribing you with Ethambutol (Myambutol), Pyrazinamide, and Rifampin (Rifadin, Rimactane).
- TWO WEEKS LATER...
- UGH! I've been feeling so yucky after that night at the club. I've been so tired and I've lost so much weight! Also I've been coughing so much and lately I started to cough up blood.
- The combination of rifampin, pyrazinamide and ethambutol will work together to slowly break down the waxy coat of Tuberculosis. It will kill and prevent Tuberculosis.
- Summer and Michelle are at the club laughing.Samantha currently has tuberculosis so by laughing she is spreading the bacteria to Michelle.
- Side effects include temporary discoloration of your teeth, sweat, urine, saliva, and tears (a yellow, orange, red, or brown color). These symptoms aren't harmful but please call your doctor if you have reddish-brown urine together with upper stomach pain, loss of appetite, and jaundice.
