- Joshua was very scared and always dreaded being with his dad. He knew he would get hit over and over again.
- Like always, Joshua got hit with a new object every time. It seemed to hurt worse and worse. As Joshua screamed and cried, his dad shouted at him to not tell anyone about this and to stop screaming.
- Social services took custody of Joshua for 3 days. When he returned to his dad's he got severely injured. He had brain damage and would be paralyzed and mentally disabled for the rest of his life.
- Joshua's dad was sent to prison
- The department had a duty to protect my son under the 14th amendment.
- Joshua's mother sued the department of Social Services for returning him to his father.
- The court ruled against Joshua and his mother. They said the Constitution does not protect children from their parents. Therefore the government was not at fault with Joshua's abuse
