  • Jem tells Scout that his pants were sewn up and were neatly folded on the fence. The kids keep finding more stuff in the tree. They leave some of the items in the tree to see if anyone takes them, but no one does. Later on Mr. Radley fills up the tree hole with concrete and Jem asks why he did it and Mr radley replies with "the tree is dying".
  • Chapter 10
  • A rare event happens in Maycomb, it starts to snow. Jem and Scout haul as much snow from Miss Maudie's yard to make a snowman. Their snowman ended up looking like Mr. Avery. It looks so much like Mr. Avery that Atticus demands the kids to put a disguise on it. They get a sun hat and hedge clippers from Miss Maudie to disguise it. That night, Miss Maudie's house catches on fire and the neighbors run inside to help save items. The kids are standing outside watching and during that boo runs out and puts a blanket on Scout. Miss Maudie is glad that her house caught on fire because she didn't like it anyway.
  • Chapter 11
  • At school, Scout nearly got into a fight with a kid named Cecil Jacobs after Cecil says that Atticus is a black person defender because Atticus has to help Tom Robinson in a case. For Christmas, the Finch's go to the Finch's landing which is where Aunt Alexandra lives. Francis is Aunt Alexandra's grandson and he and Scout don't get along. Uncle Jack spanks Scout without hearing her side of the story.
  • Chapter 12
  • Scout explains how Atticus is older than most fathers and how he reads when other people hunt. One day a mad dog comes towards the house and Calpurnia calls Atticus. Atticus and the sheriff show up and Atticus shoots the dog and hits it with the first bullet. Miss Maudie explains to the kids how back in the day people called Atticus One-shot Finch
  • Everyday Scout and Jem pass by an old lady's house. Her name is Mrs. Dubose, and one day she tells the kids that Atticus is no better than the black people and trash that he works for. Jem gets very angry and destroys her bushes with a baton. For a punishment, Jem has to go over there every day for a month to read to her. Shortly after Jems punishment is over, Mrs. Dubose dies because she was addicted to morphine.
