  • Governing power itself is shared through different levels of society. This system is called federalism. We have the federal government which deals with governing the country as a whole with laws that are in effect for everyone, however the Constitution also gives smaller governments, such as those for states or cities, more power over their respective communities.

  • The main purpose of our government is to serve the people, which gives it plenty of responsibilities to take on. To prevent a leader or groups of officials in government from abusing their power, our government is separated into three branches: legislative, executive, and judicial. Each branch has its own purpose and they cooperate to make sure that actions are reasonable and agreed upon.
