- Buck's first day at snow was terrible; the other dogs were vicious and constantly fought. He learned to survive by watching Curly. He attempted to make friends with a large dog as grey as the stones, but the dog attacked her and covered his face in blood.
- Glisser: 2
- Curly attacked the grey dog that had bitten her, and a crowd of dogs formed a circle around the fight. Curly jumped at the dog, but he knocked her backward. Curly lost and was on the ground when the other dogs moved in to finish her.
- Glisser: 3
- Curly was dead, Francois and Perrault were chasing the dogs away, and Buck noticed Spitz running away laughing, which made him hate Spitz even more.

- Buck faced a challenging day with surprises and hard work, focusing on Perrault's important letters to Dawson City. He struggled with pulling a sledge, but with Spitz and Dave's help, he improved.

- Francois and Perrault visited a dog store on their way to Dawson City and purchased two more dogs, Billee and Joe.
