- Denial 
- The doctors were wrong. They had to be my baby brother doesn't have cancer!
- Anger 
- Any supposed father who doesn’t even address his son say, once a day, isn’t even a father, in my opinion.So thanks for being my sperm donor, Pop
- Bargaining 
- If you make Jeffrey better, I won’t go to this dance. 
- Steven is in denial that his brother has cancer by thinking the doctors are wrong and made a mistake. 
- Depression 
- Steven is mad because his dad is not talking to him, his mom and brother are not with him and took a vacation with out him, and mad with everyone around him. 
- Acceptance 
- OK, Jeff, what do you think—frowny or cheery?Definitely cheery, I think. We’ve had three frownies in a row.
- Jeffery is in a bargaining state of grief when he's trying to make deals with God and make this go away.  
- Summary 
- He is in depression state by him giving out and crying on the couch with his mom and dad. 
- Steven has accepted that Jeffery has cancer and trys to cheer up Jeffery. 
- Steven goes into in and out of different stages of grief.
